Government Urged to Revise Cooperative Ordinance Provisions, Says CPN (UML) Department and Federation

The Central Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Department of the CPN (UML) and the National Cooperative Federation of Nepal have urged the government to revise certain provisions in the recently introduced ordinance aimed at amending various Nepal Acts related to cooperatives through a replacement bill.
Submitting separate memorandums to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his official residence in Baluwatar today, Department Head Khag Raj Adhikari and Federation Chair Om Devi Malla highlighted the urgent need to correct specific provisions in the ordinance to systematize the cooperative sector.
Among the suggestions, both organizations demanded the inclusion of a clause that would prevent a person from being elected to the same post for two consecutive terms.
Prime Minister Oli assured the representatives that the issues raised in the memorandum would be discussed in the context of the upcoming replacement bill. He also noted that further consultations would be held with the ruling parties to address these concerns.
