Govt. Recalls Ambassadors from 11 Countries, Including India, USA, and UK
The government has decided to recall ambassadors from 11 countries, marking a diplomatic shift under the leadership of Prime Minister Prachanda. The decision, made during a recent Cabinet meeting, includes the recall of ambassadors from key nations such as India, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom.
This decision reflects a strategic realignment in Nepal’s foreign policy, with Prime Minister Dahal’s administration taking steps to reconfigure diplomatic representation in line with its priorities. Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, confirmed the recall of ambassadors from India, USA, UK, South Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, and Israel.
The move follows Prime Minister Dahal’s decision to reconsider ambassadorial appointments made by the previous government, which was formed through a coalition involving the Nepali Congress. With the dissolution of this alliance, Prime Minister Dahal has forged new partnerships with the CPN-UML and the Rastriya Swatantra Party to establish a fresh governance framework.
