Home Minister Bans Police Deployment in Civil Attire

Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has taken a decisive step by prohibiting the deployment of police personnel in civil attire. This decision comes in the wake of mounting concerns over alleged misconduct by officers while in plainclothes.

Addressing the growing complaints surrounding the involvement of police personnel in inappropriate activities while not in uniform, Minister Lamichhane issued a directive on Thursday to address the issue.

In adherence to the Minister’s directive, the Police Headquarters has swiftly communicated the order to all seven provincial offices. Additionally, the Headquarters has initiated the reassignment of responsibilities for officers currently deployed in civilian attire. However, exceptions have been made for officers involved in investigations under the Crime Investigation Department.
