Home Minister Stresses Need for Amendment to Laws Relating to Security Bodies
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak emphasized the government’s priority on amending laws related to security bodies during an inspection visit to the headquarters of the Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal on Friday. Minister Lekhak highlighted the ministry’s commitment to supporting the strengthening and growth of the APF.
“The Armed Police Force has a significant contribution to controlling revenue leakage. Its performance during natural disasters is praiseworthy,” Lekhak stated. He added that the government is working to ensure sufficient means and resources for security bodies.
Minister Lekhak also reflected on his past experiences as a member of the committee formed by the government to study the establishment of the APF 23 years ago. He acknowledged the APF’s vital role in maintaining law and order, particularly during times of insurgency.
During the program, Home Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal announced that a bill concerning the Armed Police Force, Nepal will be tabled in parliament soon. Secretary Aryal commended the APF’s promptness in border security despite limited resources and urged officials to remain vigilant, especially during disasters.
Inspector General of the Armed Police Force Nepal Raju Aryal assured that the organization would uphold the government’s trust and emphasized the need for amendments to laws concerning border security issues.
