Inauguration of Ward Building at Dhulikhel Hospital with India’s Assistance

The newly constructed Ward Building of Dhulikhel Hospital, funded by the Government of India under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ initiative, was inaugurated by Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu. The project, completed at a total cost of NRs. 42.60 million, stands as a testament to the robust development partnership between India and Nepal.

The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of key dignitaries including the Mayor of Dhulikhel Municipality, political representatives, government officials, members of the hospital management, and social workers. This project, categorized as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), was executed under an agreement between the governments of India and Nepal and implemented through Dhulikhel Municipality.

In their speeches, the Mayor of Dhulikhel Municipality, political representatives, and the Executive and Administrative Directors of Dhulikhel Hospital, expressed their gratitude for India’s consistent developmental support, which has significantly contributed to the upliftment of the Nepalese people in various priority sectors.

The establishment of the new ward building is anticipated to provide high-quality infrastructure and an improved environment for healthcare services in Nepal. This development is particularly crucial for enhancing the hospital’s capacity to serve the community effectively.

Since 2003, the Government of India has undertaken over 551 HICDPs across Nepal, completing 490 of these projects. In Bagmati Province alone, 106 projects have been initiated, with 7 in Kavrepalanchowk. Additionally, India has donated 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to various hospitals, health posts, and educational institutions in Nepal. Specifically, Bagmati Province has received 236 ambulances and 98 school buses, including 16 ambulances and 8 school buses for Kavrepalanchowk District. Notably, an Advanced Life Support Ambulance was gifted to Dhulikhel Hospital in January 2021, significantly enhancing emergency healthcare services.

The ongoing cooperation between India and Nepal, characterized by multi-sectoral and wide-ranging initiatives, highlights India’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s development efforts. The successful implementation of HICDPs underscores the enduring partnership aimed at uplifting the people and augmenting infrastructure in key sectors.
