Inclusivity and Democratic Processes at Forefront of CPN-Maoist Center’s Convention
In the ongoing CPN-Maoist Center’s Statute Convention, the party’s commitment to inclusivity and democratic processes takes center stage. Today marked the initiation of the process of presenting proposals for discussion.
Out of the 20 groups formed to discuss the party statute draft, 13 groups have already presented their proposals. The remaining seven groups are scheduled to present their suggestions tomorrow at 11 am.
Among the proposals presented today, Kanchan Khanal emphasized the importance of inclusivity by suggesting the election of representatives from local committees and assigning supervisors from marginalized communities in the general convention.
Saral Sahayatri proposed streamlining the party’s preamble, changing the election symbol, simplifying organizational principles, and making party membership more accessible.
Yuvraj Chaulagain advocated for direct elections of the party committee, stressing that candidates for all public positions should be chosen by party members.
The convention, taking place at Pragya Bhawan, Kamaladi, Kathmandu, underscores the party’s mandate for direct elections at all levels. With discussions ongoing, the convention will reconvene tomorrow at 11 am to further deliberate on the proposed changes.
