India Lays Foundation Stone for Key Community Project in Sankhuwasabha

In a significant step towards enhancing educational infrastructure and community development in Nepal, India has laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Shree Diding Basic School Building in Chichila Rural Municipality-3, Sankhuwasabha District.

The ceremony, held today, saw the esteemed presence of Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Chairman of Chichila Rural Municipality, and Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu. Also in attendance were political representatives, government officials, social workers, school management representatives, teachers, parents, and eager students.

The project, funded by the Government of India at a cost of NRs. 40.29 million under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ framework, aims to construct a double-storied academic and administrative block along with other necessary facilities for the Shree Diding Basic School.

Chairman Pasang Nurbu Sherpa expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the Government of India in advancing the welfare of Nepali citizens, particularly in critical sectors.

This initiative marks another milestone in the longstanding partnership between India and Nepal, with over 550 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) undertaken by India since 2003. In Koshi Province alone, 85 projects have been initiated, including significant contributions to Sankhuwasabha District.

Apart from infrastructure projects, the Government of India has also contributed significantly to Nepal’s healthcare and education sectors, gifting 974 ambulances and 234 school buses to various institutions across the nation.

The ongoing cooperation between India and Nepal underscores the commitment to mutual prosperity and development, with a focus on empowering communities and enhancing essential services. The Shree Diding Basic School Building project is expected to significantly improve educational facilities and create a conducive environment for learning, thereby contributing to the overall development of the region.
