Indian Citizen Arrested with 29.5 kg of Sulfur
The armed police in Kailali have apprehended an Indian citizen, Shiva Gupta, aged 42, for illegally possessing 29 kilograms and 500 grams of sulfur, a key ingredient used in explosives. The arrest took place on Thursday in the border area of Kailari Rural Municipality-3, Khonpur.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shailendra Thapa, who serves as the co-spokesperson of the Armed Police, Gupta was detained while attempting to smuggle the sulfur from India into Nepal. Astonishingly, he had concealed the hazardous substance on a bicycle.
DSP Thapa disclosed that during the inspection, Gupta initially attempted to evade capture by claiming that the bag contained only potatoes and onions. However, upon further investigation and subsequent arrest, the sulfur was discovered. The purpose behind Gupta’s possession of the sulfur remains unknown at this time.
Following the arrest, Gupta, along with the seized sulfur and bicycle, has been transferred to the area police office in Hasulia.
