Indian-Funded School Building Inaugurated in Nawalparasi (East)

The Tribhuwan Secondary School in Bulingtar Rural Municipality, Nawalparasi (East), saw the inauguration of its new school building today. Built with the financial assistance of the Government of India, the project, valued at NRs.27.51 million, marks a testament to the enduring partnership between the two nations under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ framework.

The inauguration ceremony, graced by distinguished personalities including Dr. Shashank Koirala, Member of Parliament, Bhagauti Yadav, Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Nawalparasi (West), Dipendra Sunari, Chairman of Bulingtar Municipality, and Dr. Sahil Kumar, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, resonated with the spirit of collaboration and shared progress.

Utilizing the grant provided by the Government of India, the newly constructed school building encompasses modern facilities such as classrooms, examination rooms, administrative offices, science laboratories, library, computer rooms, and separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls. This initiative, undertaken as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), underscores the commitment of both governments to uplift communities and strengthen educational infrastructure.

Speaking at the event, key stakeholders expressed gratitude for India’s steadfast support in vital sectors. The dignitaries lauded the concerted efforts to enhance educational facilities, recognizing the profound impact it would have on the students of Tribhuwan Secondary School and the broader community.

Since 2003, the Government of India has spearheaded over 551 HICDPs across Nepal, completing 490 projects to date. Notably, the Gandaki Province has benefitted from 59 projects, including three in Nawalparasi (East) District. Furthermore, India’s benevolent gesture of gifting 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to various institutions across Nepal, with a significant allocation for the Gandaki Province, highlights the depth of bilateral cooperation.

The ongoing collaboration between India and Nepal underscores their shared commitment to fostering socio-economic development and strengthening people-to-people ties. Through initiatives like HICDPs, India continues to bolster Nepal’s development journey, particularly in vital sectors like education, thereby nurturing a partnership rooted in mutual respect and shared prosperity.
