India’s Second Consignment of Earthquake Relief Materials Handed Over to the Government of Nepal
Kathmandu, November 6, 2023: In a display of solidarity and support, the Deputy Chief of Mission, Prasanna Shrivastava, acting on behalf of the Government of India, officially handed over the second consignment of essential earthquake relief materials to the Chief District Officer of Banke, Shravan Kumar Pokhrel, in a ceremonial event attended by Nepalgunj Mayor, Prashant Bista.
The consignment, weighing a substantial 9 tonnes, was transported to Nepalgunj with the assistance of a dedicated Indian Air Force C-130 aircraft. This significant delivery included critical medical and hygiene supplies, tents, sleeping bags, and blankets, which are vital for the well-being of the earthquake-affected families in Nepal.

This endeavor marks a continuation of the Government of India’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Government of Nepal during the challenging aftermath of the earthquake that shook Jajarkot on November 3, 2023.
The first consignment, exceeding 11 tonnes in weight, was generously contributed by India and included essential provisions such as tents, tarpaulin sheets, blankets, sleeping bags, along with essential medicines and medical equipment. This first batch was delivered to the Government of Nepal on November 5, 2023.
India’s dedication to extending assistance and relief to the people of Nepal in the wake of the Jajarkot earthquake reflects the deep bonds of friendship and the unwavering support between the two nations.
The provision of vital relief materials by the Government of India remains instrumental in helping the affected communities rebuild their lives and providing much-needed comfort during this challenging period.
