Jhalnath Khanal Urges Robust Debates and Focus on Specific Classes

In a pivotal address during the seventh central committee meeting of the CPN Unified Socialist Party, Jhalnath Khanal, a respected leader and former prime minister, emphasized the critical role of class identity and the need for democratic institutionalization within the party.

Khanal asserted that the party’s strength and influence are contingent on the conscientious implementation of its statute, with a keen awareness of societal class structures and inherent contradictions. He stated, “Class identity is paramount. We must direct our party work to the areas requiring revolutionary attention. A party will not take shape unless we focus on a specific class.”

Highlighting the historical context of the Communist Party’s formation during the time of Buddha, Khanal underscored the importance of robust debates and discussions. He urged the party not to shy away from such discourse, questioning why it may be struggling to attract workers.

Moreover, Khanal outlined the party’s trajectory toward legitimacy by transitioning from an ad-hoc entity to a formally elected committee. “We are poised to transition this current ad-hoc party into a legitimate entity by institutionalizing it and promptly establishing an elected committee. Let us engage in extensive discussions on any internal issue without fear,” he remarked.

The veteran leader called for a comprehensive understanding of the societal landscape, asserting that the party’s formation requires a focus on specific classes and areas necessitating revolutionary change.
