Judicial Council Recommends Officials for Upcoming By-Elections and New Consumer Court Appointments

The Judicial Council has recommended a list of Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers for the by-elections scheduled for December 1. The recommendations, submitted to the Election Commission, include the names of district court judges to oversee by-elections across 31 districts, ensuring the electoral process is supervised at the highest standard.

Additionally, Kathmandu District Court Judge Ram Prasad Sharma has been recommended as Justice of the newly-established Consumer Court, with Genendra Raj Regmi proposed as a member. This new Consumer Court is expected to address and expedite cases relating to consumer rights and protections.

In support of the by-elections, the Council also recommended Returning Officers for six local government units. This series of recommendations comes as part of a broader effort to strengthen oversight and judicial presence in the electoral and consumer rights domains.
