KMC sees 399 disaster incidents, majority of fire, in 11 months

A total of disaster-related incidents have taken place in Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) in the 11 months of the current fiscal year, 2022/23.
355 disaster-related incidents occurred in the previous FY, said the KMC.
Most of them are fire incidents (162 incidents), according to the KMC. Most of the fire incidents were electrical fires and the ones caused by cooking gas explosions, said Superintendent of Police, the KMC police, Bishnu Prasad Joshi.
Meanwhile, the KMC has allocated Rs 35 million for the next FY, 2023/24 to purchase equipment for disaster management. (RSS)
