Kushal Bhurtel’s Heroic 99 Run Knock Ends in Disappointment, Creates ODI Partnership History for Nepal

At the thrilling World Cup qualifier match between Nepal and Zimbabwe, Kushal Bhurtel came agonizingly close to completing a century before being dismissed for 99 runs by Wellington Masakadza of Zimbabwe. Despite falling one run short of the milestone, Bhurtel’s exceptional innings played a vital role in Nepal’s performance.

Bhurtel showcased his skills with a splendid knock, facing 95 balls and smashing 13 fours and 2 sixes during his time at the crease.

The standout moment of the match came through Bhurtel’s opening partnership with Aasif Sheikh. The duo amassed a remarkable 171 runs, surpassing Nepal’s previous record partnership in One Day International (ODI) cricket. This record-breaking achievement highlights the exceptional teamwork and batting prowess displayed by Bhurtel and Sheikh.

The historic partnership surpassed Nepal’s previous record set in February 2023, when Sheikh and Gyanendra Malla shared a 139-run partnership for the second wicket against Namibia in League Two at Kirtipur.
