Lawmaker Narayan Prakash Saud Urges Focus on Constitutional Amendment Agreement
Lawmaker Narayan Prakash (NP) Saud has called on the government to prioritize the implementation of the agreement to amend the constitution, which was signed between the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN (UML) during the formation of the new government.
Speaking during the special hour of today’s House of Representatives meeting, Saud emphasized the need for national consensus among different parties, including both government and opposition, to ensure political stability through the proposed constitutional amendment.
Saud highlighted that the constitution should be amended without undermining the rights guaranteed for women, indigenous nationalities, Madhesis, Dalits, disabled persons, and other oppressed communities. He stressed that all political parties should remain committed to the process of constitutional amendment and work together to resolve the existing complexities within the constitution.
Echoing similar sentiments, lawmaker Raghuji Panta urged the opposition parties to approach the constitutional amendment process positively. He stated that while the CPN (UML) and NC have formed the government, the constitution should be amended with the advice, suggestions, and understanding of all parties involved.
