During the Urgent Time session in the National Assembly today, parliamentarians emphasized the critical need for enhanced road safety measures to curb the rising incidence of accidents across the country.
Lawmaker Bimala Ghimire highlighted the alarming surge in road accidents over recent years, underscoring the necessity of providing free medical treatment to individuals injured in such incidents. Ghimire emphasized the need for comprehensive measures to address factors contributing to accidents, including poor road conditions, driver recklessness, aging vehicles, and heavy traffic.
Echoing Ghimire’s sentiments, lawmaker Jayanti Rai called for the implementation of a special plan to combat the upward trajectory of road accidents, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
Krishna Bahadur Rokaya urged the government to take immediate steps to reduce road fatalities, while Maya Prasad Sharma advocated for road infrastructure upgrades to ensure safer transportation.
Lawmaker Mohammad Khalid expressed dismay over the staggering loss of lives resulting from road accidents and called for government intervention to prioritize road safety initiatives.
Tula Prasad Bishwokarma emphasized the imperative for swift action by the government to minimize road accidents, underscoring the urgency of the situation and the need for proactive measures to safeguard citizens.
