Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri Meets President Ramchandra Paudel
Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri paid a courtesy visit to President Ramchandra Paudel today at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas. The meeting focused on various aspects of the bilateral relationship between Nepal and India, as stated by the Office of the President.
During the meeting, President Paudel emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between Nepal and India to mitigate the impacts of climate change. “Since the safety of the mountains and water depends on the safety of mankind, it is necessary for both countries to work together to reduce the effects of climate change,” said President Paudel, as conveyed by his press advisor Kiran Pokharel.
President Paudel highlighted the long-standing and deep-rooted relations between Nepal and India, expressing confidence that these ties would be further strengthened during Secretary Misri’s tenure. He also stressed the importance of enhancing friendship and cooperation between the two countries for mutual benefit and prosperity.
Nepal’s priorities, according to President Paudel, include the modernization of agriculture, infrastructure development, hydropower, trade, investment, tourism, and human resource development. He pointed out that Nepal possesses significant potential for hydropower development and sustainable energy trade.
In response, Indian Foreign Secretary Misri affirmed India’s commitment to work alongside Nepal in addressing the challenge of climate change. He also expressed India’s willingness to support Nepal’s priority areas, particularly in energy, agriculture, and tourism. Furthermore, Secretary Misri informed President Paudel of India’s intention to expedite the completion of ongoing projects and explore new areas of collaboration.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both nations to strengthen their bilateral relationship and work together on pressing global and regional challenges.
