Lumbini Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya Secures Vote of Confidence

Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya has successfully secured a vote of confidence from the Province Assembly. The motion of confidence, submitted by Chief Minister Acharya, was discussed and voted on in the assembly on Tuesday.

Acharya received strong support with 70 votes in favor, while only 11 votes were cast against him, according to Speaker Tularam Gharti Magar.

Acharya was initially appointed as the Chief Minister on July 22 with the backing of 56 provincial assembly members, including 29 from the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) and 27 from the Nepali Congress.

In today’s vote, Acharya received additional support from members of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LOSPA), and the Nagarik Unmukti Party, alongside his initial supporters from UML and Congress.

However, MPs from the Maoist Center and Rashtriya Janamorcha voted against the motion. The four MPs from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chose to remain neutral during the vote, according to the Speaker.
