Madhesh CM Singh to Face Vote of Confidence on July 5

Madhesh Province’s newly appointed Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh is set to undergo a crucial vote of confidence on July 5, as mandated by Article 168(4) of the Constitution. The vote must be secured within 30 days of assuming office, making July 6 the deadline for CM Singh to gain the Province Assembly’s endorsement.

Appointed by Madhesh Province Head Sumitra Subedi Bhandari on June 7, CM Singh, representing the CK Raut-led Janamat Party, garnered support from a coalition of 55 assembly members. This alliance includes 24 members from the CPN-UML, 13 from the Janamat Party itself, nine from the CPN (Maoist Centre), seven from the CPN (Unified Socialist), along with one member each from the Nagarik Unmukti Party and Nepal Sanghiya Samajbadi Party.

Singh’s ascension followed the inability of former CM Saroj Kumar Yadav to secure majority support in the Province Assembly, leading to his replacement.
