Magh 14 Declared National Anti-Money Laundering Day

The government has decided to observe Magh 14 every year as National Anti-Money Laundering Day. The announcement was made by Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, who is also the government spokesperson. The decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting held yesterday.

The government has also issued an order to prohibit strikes in essential services, with the directive set to be published in the Nepal Gazette. Additional Inspector General of Nepal Police, Tek Bahadur Tamang, has been transferred to the Kathmandu Valley Police Office in Ranipokhari from the Crime Investigation Department of Nepal Police Headquarters.

The Cabinet granted pre-approval for an Organization and Management Survey of the Office of the Attorney General and its subordinate offices. It also approved the Prime Minister National Talent Award Fund Establishment and Management (1st Amendment) Work Procedure, 2081. Under the public-private partnership model, Panchkhal Special Economic Zone will be developed and operated with the private sector tasked to build infrastructure on government-provided land.

A 13-member delegation led by Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari has been given approval to visit the Philippines for meetings scheduled from January 12 to 15. The government has appointed Chhatra Bahadur Katuwal from Bajura district as the Executive Director of the Special Economic Zone Authority and Dhurba Acharya from Rupandehi district as the Vice-Chairperson of the National Sports Council.

Permission has been granted for the use of 2,718 square feet of land belonging to the District Coordination Committee, Kailali, by Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolis to establish a Local Emergency Operation Centre. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has been approved to construct an 800-meter road along the Sallisalla-Simikot section of the Hilsa-Simikot road, while the Nepali Army will build a bailey bridge over the Chuwa rivulet.

The Cabinet passed the Drinking Water and Sanitation Regulations, 2081, and approved the tabling of bills in parliament to amend laws related to export and import and to establish and operate a National Forensic Lab. It also endorsed the Disaster Sensitive Social Security and Relief Distribution Standard, Energy Development Roadmap, and Commerce Policy, all for the year 2081.
