In a thrilling encounter in the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers, Malaysia managed to set a target of 166 runs for Nepal after winning the toss and opting to bat first.
Malaysia’s innings got off to a strong start with opener Syed Aziz showcasing an impressive display of batting prowess, amassing 68 runs. He established a formidable opening partnership of 58 runs with Jubaidi Zulkifle, who contributed 24 runs before being dismissed by Abinash Bohara.
However, Nepal’s bowlers managed to strike at regular intervals. Captain Ahmed Faiz was run out after adding just 3 runs to the total, while Virendeep Singh was dismissed for 4 runs. Sarvin Muninde and Mohammad Amir chipped in with 13 and 8 runs, respectively. Ainol Hafeez was run out for 3 runs, Vijay Uni scored 13 runs, Sejul Idris managed 7 runs, and Fitru Sam contributed 6 runs to Malaysia’s total.
Abhinash Bohora of Nepal emerged as the star bowler, taking 4 crucial wickets, while Sandeep Lamichhane, Gulsan Jha, and Rohit Paudel claimed one wicket each, putting the brakes on Malaysia’s innings.
