The Manakamana Cable Car has resumed operations today following a major upgrade, transforming from analogue to digital technology. The service, operated by Manakamana Darshan Pvt Ltd, had been halted since July 15 to replace the rope, marking the first upgrade in 26 years.
Ujjwal Sherchan, Deputy General Manager of Manakamana Darshan Pvt Ltd, said that the digital transformation was completed with the technical support of Austrian engineers.
Initially launched on November 24, 1998, the cable car was established to ease access for religious pilgrims to the renowned Manakamana Temple in Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality, Gorkha. The bottom station of the ropeway is located in Cheres, Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, Chitwan.
