Maoist Centre to Contest National Assembly Chairperson Position
The ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) has announced its intention to file candidacy for the position of National Assembly Chairperson. The decision was reached during a Standing Committee meeting held at the party’s central office in Parisdanda, as confirmed by party Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota.
According to Vice-Chairperson Sapkota, while discussions will ensue, the party aims to reach a conclusive decision through consultations. Expressing the party’s stance, Sapkota stated, “At present, our party has decided to file its candidacy for the National Assembly Chairperson.”
It was revealed that a majority of the Standing Committee members advocated for the CPN (Maoist Centre) to stake its claim on the position. The National Assembly Chairperson’s post is set to be vacant from March 3, prompting various coalition partners in the government to assert their interests in the position.
