Mayor Sampang Padlocks BPKIHS Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Office

In a move reflecting the growing discontent within the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Mayor Harka Sampang took matters into his own hands by padlocking the office of the acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Prahlad Karki on Monday.

Concerns over unresolved issues and unaddressed demands raised by teachers and medical staff prompted Mayor Sampang’s solo visit to the institute on a motorcycle. The mayor, expressing his frustration with the alleged lack of accountability among high-ranking officials at BPKIHS, asserted his commitment to ensuring that the concerns of the institute’s employees are not overlooked.

Mayor Sampang, after locking the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s office, proceeded to the municipal office, cautioning against opening the padlock without his explicit permission. In a statement, he emphasized his determination to personally unlock the office when deemed necessary.

“Let others not open the lock on the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s office; I will personally come and unlock it when necessary,” Mayor Sampang declared.

The controversial padlocking action comes amid a backdrop of escalating controversies within BPKIHS and a call for greater accountability. As tensions rise, the mayor’s intervention highlights the urgency of addressing the concerns raised by the institute’s faculty and medical staff, signaling a potential turning point in the ongoing issues at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
