Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, Nawal Kishor Sah Sudi, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to effectively implementing programs aimed at combating gender-based violence, promoting social welfare, and protecting the rights of senior citizens. Speaking at a National Assembly (NA) meeting today, Minister Sah Sudi emphasized the government’s proactive approach to addressing these critical issues.
Minister Sah Sudi expressed concern over recent reports highlighting the violence faced by women, particularly those employed abroad. He assured that the government has taken significant measures to control violence against women and is closely monitoring the situation.
One of the key initiatives under his ministry is the construction of shelter homes for the rehabilitation of women who have survived violence. The project has already been launched in the Madhes Province, with plans to soon announce a tender for a similar facility in the Bagmati Province. These shelter homes aim to provide survivors with a safe and dignified environment for recovery.
Addressing a recent incident of menstrual discrimination in Achham, Minister Sah Sudi confirmed that an investigation is underway, and promised that those responsible would be held accountable.
