Ministry of Health and National Innovation Centre Partner to Repair and Maintain Medical Equipment in Federal Hospitals

The Ministry of Health and Population has signed an agreement with the National Innovation Centre to collaborate on the repair, maintenance, and management of medical equipment in 17 hospitals under the federal government. The agreement aims to ensure that existing medical appliances are fully functional and well-managed, especially in light of the state’s limited resources.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Madan Upadhyay, Chief of the Ministry’s Quality Measurement and Regulation Division, and Dr. Mahabir Pun, Chairperson of the National Innovation Centre. Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, witnessed the signing ceremony.

Minister Paudel emphasized the importance of this partnership, highlighting the need to maximize the use of available health equipment in the context of resource constraints. “We are not immediately in a position to purchase the required medical equipment due to resource limitations. This agreement, which aims to make the most out of the equipment we already have, is an important initiative,” he stated.

He further noted that repairing and maintaining idle equipment would save significant funds that would otherwise be spent on new purchases. “Work on the repair and maintenance of such equipment has now been initiated,” the Health Minister added.

Expressing his satisfaction with entrusting the management of medical equipment to a renowned domestic organization, Minister Paudel said, “This culture of partnership indicates that the state has confidence in domestic organizations and the local workforce.”

Dr. Mahabir Pun, Chairperson of the National Innovation Centre, described the partnership as a significant responsibility for the Centre in contributing to the improvement of the health sector. “This responsibility involves the repair and maintenance of biomedical equipment at government hospitals and assessing the condition of such appliances,” Dr. Pun explained.

This agreement marks a crucial step toward enhancing the functionality and management of medical equipment across federal hospitals, ensuring better healthcare services for the public.
