Modi Congratulates Oli on Becoming Nepal’s Prime Minister

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated KP Sharma Oli on his appointment as the Prime Minister of Nepal.

In a social media post on ‘X’, Modi expressed his enthusiasm for enhancing the cooperation between the two nations. “Look forward to working closely to further strengthen the deep bonds of friendship between our two countries and to further expand our mutually beneficial cooperation for the progress and prosperity of our peoples,” Modi wrote.

Oli, the chairman of the UML, was appointed as the new Prime Minister of Nepal by President Ram Chandra Paudel. He was the only leader to stake a claim for the position, with support from the Nepali Congress.

President Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-appointed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at a ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas. The event was attended by Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal, outgoing Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, former prime ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba, Jhalanath Khanal, and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, along with other political leaders and dignitaries.
