Monsoon Effects Continue Across Nepal, Heavy Rainfall Likely in Some Areas
The monsoon winds continue to impact weather conditions across Nepal, with varying levels of cloud cover and rainfall expected throughout the country.
According to the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the low-pressure line of the monsoon is positioned slightly south of its average location in the west and is around its average position in the east. This has resulted in partly to generally cloudy skies nationwide.
The Division’s weather bulletin, issued this morning, reports light rain occurring in one or two locations within Koshi, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim provinces. For the rest of the day, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy across the country.
Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely in several areas, particularly in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with scattered showers expected in other regions.
The cloud cover and rainfall are anticipated to persist into the night, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms likely in parts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces, as well as isolated locations elsewhere.
The Department has also issued a warning for potential heavy rainfall in one or two places in Koshi and Karnali provinces, urging residents to remain cautious due to the increased risk of localized flooding and landslides.
