Monsoon Floods and Landslides Claim 145 Lives Across Nepal
A total of 145 people have lost their lives in floods and landslides triggered by monsoon rains in various parts of Nepal since June 10. The tragic toll was confirmed by Nepal Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Dan Bahadur Karki.
According to the data, fatalities were distributed as follows:
- Kathmandu Valley: 2 deaths
- Koshi Province: 24 deaths
- Madhes Province: 6 deaths
- Bagmati Province: 29 deaths
- Gandaki Province: 42 deaths
- Lumbini Province: 24 deaths
- Karnali Province: 8 deaths
- Sudurpaschim Province: 10 deaths
Injuries have also been reported across the provinces:
- Kathmandu Valley: 10 injured
- Koshi Province: 37 injured
- Madhes Province: 10 injured
- Bagmati Province: 9 injured
- Gandaki Province: 34 injured
- Lumbini Province: 9 injured
- Karnali Province: 51 injured
- Sudurpaschim Province: 14 injured
Rescue operations have been ongoing, with several individuals saved from perilous conditions:
- Kathmandu Valley: 3 rescued
- Koshi Province: 49 rescued
- Gandaki Province: 14 rescued
- Karnali Province: 2 rescued
- Sudurpaschim Province: 5 rescued
However, many remain missing:
- Koshi Province: 47 missing
- Bagmati Province: 42 missing
- Gandaki Province: 2 missing
- Karnali Province: 1 missing
The monsoon has caused extensive property damage:
- Submerged houses: 184
- Damaged houses: 248
- Damaged sheds: 88
- Damaged bridges: 43
- Damaged schools: 2
- Damaged government offices: 2
Livestock has also been severely affected, with 672 cattle lost. Additionally, 4,063 households have been displaced due to the disasters, according to Spokesperson DIG Karki.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide aid to those affected.
