Monsoon Influences Persist Across the Country
The influence of monsoon winds continues to impact weather patterns throughout the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The monsoon’s low-pressure line is currently positioned slightly north of its typical southern location, contributing to varying weather conditions across different regions.
Today, light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is occurring in several areas. Specifically, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpashchim provinces are experiencing these weather conditions in multiple locations, while isolated areas in other provinces are also affected.
This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy across the entire country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in parts of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in some areas of the remaining provinces.
Heavy rainfall is anticipated in one or two locations within Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. The Department has advised the public to remain vigilant due to the potential risks of flooding, landslides, and soil erosion, particularly in areas prone to heavy rainfall.
As night falls, the weather is expected to stay partly to generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is forecasted in several places within Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, Gandaki, Sudurpashchim, and Karnali provinces, with a chance of similar conditions in other provinces as well.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology urges everyone to take necessary precautions to stay safe from potential weather-related disasters during this ongoing monsoon season.
