Monsoon Winds and Low Pressure System Bring Cloudy Weather and Rainfall Across Nepal

The country is currently experiencing the influence of monsoon winds combined with partial effects from a low-pressure system formed in northeast Assam and adjacent areas of India, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported.

At present, Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are seeing partly to generally cloudy conditions, while other parts of the country are experiencing partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

The forecast predicts that the weather will remain partly to generally cloudy in these four provinces, with similar cloudy conditions in other regions. Light to moderate rain, along with thunder and lightning, is expected to continue in a few places in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as scattered locations in other parts of Nepal.

In addition, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koshi and Bagmati provinces, with warnings of windstorms in parts of the Tarai region of Koshi province.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, tonight’s weather will stay cloudy across Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is forecast for one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and other provinces over the next 24 hours.

The Department has advised people to stay alert, particularly in areas at risk of floods, landslides, and inundation, especially in Koshi and Bagmati provinces, where heavy rainfall is expected.
