Monsoon Winds Continue to Impact Weather Across Nepal, Heavy Rainfall Expected in Several Provinces
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reports that monsoon winds are still affecting the country, with the low-pressure line of the monsoon remaining around its average position. This has resulted in generally cloudy weather across Nepal, with light to moderate rainfall occurring in various regions, particularly in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.
The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy throughout the afternoon, with light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, likely to occur in several provinces. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in one or two places within Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
Tonight, the country will experience partly to generally cloudy skies, with light to moderate rain expected in a few areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. The next 24 hours may also bring heavy rainfall to certain locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
The Department has urged the public to stay vigilant due to the potential impact on agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road, and air transportation, as well as daily life in the affected areas.
In the last six hours, moderate to heavy rainfall has been recorded in and around Morang, Dhankuta, and Lamjung districts. Other areas, including Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, and Okhaldhunga in Koshi province, Saptari in Madhes province, Dolakha, Sindhupalchowk, and Nuwakot in Bagmati province, and Gorkha and Kaski in Gandaki province, as well as parts of Lumbini and Karnali provinces, have also experienced rainfall.
