National Assembly Chair meets WHO regional director
National Assembly (NA) Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and World Health Organisation (WHO) regional director for South-East Asia, Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, held a courtesy meeting today. The meeting took place at the NA Chair’s office.
During the meeting held, the chair of the upper house acknowledged the WHO regional office’s contribution to the improvement of the health of the vulnerable community in Nepal. He also applauded the commitments on the part of the regional director to support the South East Asia nations for the strengthening of the health system.
He also applauded the WHO regional support to Neal to address the health needs of the Nepali citizens, expressing his gratitude to the WHO for its assistance to Nepal in the aftermath of the 2015 major earthquake in Nepal and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The WHO regional director commended Nepal for its achievements in the health sector and the mobilization of people’s representation under the leadership of NA chair in the area of public health concerns. She also promised more WHO assistance to Nepal in the days to come.
