National Assembly Members Demand Justice for Usury Victims

Members of the National Assembly have urged the government to ensure justice for victims of usury, emphasizing the need for effective implementation of relevant laws. In today’s upper house session, Puja Chaudhary highlighted that despite the enactment of laws against usury, victims continue to be denied justice, calling for prompt action to address their grievances.

Rukmini Koirala and Bishnu Devi Pudasaini both advised the government to implement measures to reduce the rising number of road accidents, expressing concern over recent incidents, including a fatal accident in Tanahu. Renu Chand demanded that the Sudurpaschim Province be declared a touristic zone, proposing the development of infrastructure to connect key sites like Badimalika and Tribeni with reliable communication and drinking water facilities.

Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma called for an investigation into the death of a two-day-old infant at Karuna Hospital in Budhanilkantha, while Krishna Prasad Adhikari expressed concern over the loss of 197 lives due to monsoon disasters, urging the government to act with greater sensitivity.

Meanwhile, usury victims staged a demonstration in Siraha on Saturday, accusing the government of apathy towards their plight. The Usury Victims Struggle Committee Chair, Awadesh Kushawa, stated that the accused continue to exploit victims through money, power, and connections.
