On the occasion of Sonam Lhosar, Nepal’s national leaders have highlighted the importance of unity, cultural heritage, and national sentiment in their messages of best wishes.
Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav stated that strong unity within Nepal’s diverse society would further strengthen the national spirit. He emphasized that Sonam Lhosar, as a cultural heritage, should be celebrated as a symbol of identity and self-respect for all Nepalis. “This festival reminds us of our responsibility to protect and promote indigenous traditions and culture,” he said, adding that the traditional dance, music, and special delicacies of the festival help preserve Nepal’s cultural heritage for future generations.
Similarly, Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire expressed that various festivals have made Nepali society richer and more vibrant. Extending best wishes to Nepalis at home and abroad, he remarked that festivals like Sonam Lhosar provide an opportunity to strengthen mutual unity and cooperation. He noted that the festival, marked by the traditional Damphu drum, Tamang Selo folk songs, and cultural celebrations, is an example of Nepal’s cultural vibrancy.
National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal echoed similar sentiments, stating that Sonam Lhosar plays a crucial role in strengthening social and cultural harmony, brotherhood, and national unity. He underscored the festival’s contribution to preserving and promoting the traditional culture of the Tamang community and acknowledged the community’s role in safeguarding Nepal’s cultural diversity.
