NC’s General Convention Best Held After General Election: Dr. Shashank Koirala

Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shashank Koirala has stated that it would be prudent to organize the party’s general convention on its scheduled date or after the general election, rather than immediately before it.

Speaking to media persons in Chitwan today, Dr. Koirala explained that holding the general convention just ahead of the election could lead to internal dissatisfaction impacting the party’s performance in the polls.

“The general election is slated for 2084 BS. The NC’s general convention should ideally be held two years prior to the election. If that is not feasible, it would be better to organize it after the general election,” he said.

Dr. Koirala emphasized that organizing the convention on time could address internal discontent, which is essential for fostering unity within the party. He underscored the importance of leadership that eliminates factionalism and promotes collective effort.

Highlighting his vision for the convention, Dr. Koirala shared that he has prepared a clear draft to guide discussions, with the aim of strengthening the party’s organizational structure and cohesion.
