Nepal Army’s Colonel Shah and Lieutenant Colonel Timilsina detained
The Nepali Army, which is investigating a case of financial irregularities against Major General Prem Shahi, arrested two more high-ranking army officers on Wednesday.
The Nepali Army has taken two of its officers Colonel Mahendra Jung Shah and Lieutenant Colonel Kuldip Timilsina under control on the basis of the statement of General Shahi, who is being prosecuted.
According to the army, they have been detained on the charge of helping Major General Shahi, who has been detained for two months.
According to a senior military source, the court martial is also investigating the matter of planning a serious conspiracy against the army by Shahi along Colonel Shah and Lieutenant Colonel Timilsina.
Brigadier General Krishna Prasad Bhandari, spokesperson for the Nepalese Army, said that inquiry is going to be done with Shah and Timilsina. Bhandari also said that they were accused of violating military discipline.
Major General Shahi is in military custody on charges of irregularities during his tenure in various units. The Army Headquarters formed a committee under the leadership of Baburam Shrestha to investigate the allegations against the Major General.
According to the report submitted by the committee, Colonel Shah and Lieutenant Colonel Timilsina were detained according to the military court procedure. “They have been taken into custody for questioning on charges of violation of military discipline,” said spokesperson Bhandari.
