Nepal Embassy Hosts Tourism Promotion Event in Colombo

Nepal’s vibrant tourism sector took center stage in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as the Nepal Embassy organized a dynamic Tourism Promotion Programme under the theme “Discover the Himalaya Wonder: Explore the Cultural Treasures.”

The event, which garnered significant attention from travel agents, journalists, and business figures from both Sri Lanka and Nepal, showcased the diverse array of attractions Nepal has to offer. In his address, Nepal’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Basudev Mishra, underscored the pivotal role tourism plays in the economic rejuvenation of both nations. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to harness the potential of the tourism industry fully.

Ambassador Mishra extended a warm invitation to Sri Lankan nationals, highlighting Nepal’s welcoming ambiance, competitive pricing, and rich tourism offerings. He also seized the opportunity to promote Nepal’s upcoming Investment Summit in May, urging the Sri Lankan business community to explore avenues for investment and collaboration in Nepal.

Expressing their enthusiasm, participants from Sri Lanka expressed a keen interest in visiting Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, along with other iconic sites in Nepal.

Dr. Kalyan Raj Sharma, Managing Director of Nepal’s Adventure Outdoor Trek and Expedition Company, captivated the audience with a comprehensive presentation on Nepal’s diverse tourism products. Dr. Sharma emphasized that Nepal’s tourism potential extends far beyond religious pilgrimage, noting a rising trend in adventure tourism and wildlife exploration within Nepal’s compact geographic footprint.

Throughout the event, Nepali tourism and business offerings took center stage, with captivating displays, informational sessions, and engaging performances showcasing the beauty and cultural richness of Nepal. Nepali businesses seized the opportunity to unveil competitive tour packages tailored to the preferences of Sri Lankan visitors, expressing optimism about an influx of tourists from the island nation.
