Nepal Faces Back-to-Back Defeats Against Namibia
Nepal suffered consecutive losses against Namibia in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 series. Despite a valiant effort, Nepal fell short against Namibia, losing by two wickets in a closely contested match at the TU Cricket Ground.
Opting to bat first after losing the toss on a chilly day, Nepal got off to a promising start courtesy of openers Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh. However, their innings stumbled as Namibian bowler Bernard Scholtz proved formidable, claiming crucial wickets. Despite a brief partnership between Sheikh and Kushal Malla, Nepal managed only 168 runs before being all out.
In response, Namibia faced early setbacks but steadied their innings with contributions from Michael van Lingen and captain Gerhard Erasmus. Nepal fought hard, taking timely wickets, but Namibia’s JJ Smit’s resilient knock ensured victory for his team.
With this defeat, Nepal is set to face the Netherlands in their final match of the series. Having previously defeated the Netherlands after their loss to Namibia, Nepal will look to end the series on a positive note.
