Nepal Launches Online Labour Permit Approval from UAE

The Nepalese government has introduced an online labour permit approval service for Nepali migrant workers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi has become the second diplomatic mission to provide this service, following the Embassy of Nepal in Muscat.
The service was officially launched by Minister for Labour, Employment, and Social Security Sarat Singh Bhandari at an event in Dubai on Thursday, as confirmed by the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi.
Minister Bhandari emphasized that the government is committed to simplifying and expanding such services, making them more accessible and technology-driven to support Nepali migrant workers. He noted that the new system would allow workers to renew their permits without needing to return to Nepal, helping them continue their jobs and businesses smoothly. He also announced plans to extend this service to other diplomatic missions in the future.
Recognizing the importance of foreign employment as a key source of remittance, Minister Bhandari underscored the need for stronger policies to safeguard Nepali migrant workers and ensure better migration governance.
Nepal’s Ambassador to the UAE, Tej Bahadur Oli, reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to protecting the rights of Nepali workers and improving service delivery despite limited resources. Representatives from the Diaspora community, Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), and other organizations attended the launch event, which also featured an interaction session on labour issues.
Minister Bhandari was in Dubai to participate in the World Government Summit 2025, held from February 11 to 13.
