Nepal Secures Semifinal Berth with Convincing Win Over Kuwait
Nepal’s impressive journey in the ACC Women’s Premier Cup continued as they secured a spot in the semifinals with a dominant victory over Kuwait. In a thrilling quarterfinal clash, Nepal outplayed Kuwait by eight wickets, showcasing their prowess on the cricket field.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Kuwait faced a daunting challenge from Nepal’s bowling attack and was eventually dismissed for a mere 73 runs. The highlight of the match was Sita Rana Magar’s remarkable hat-trick, leaving the audience in awe with her exceptional bowling performance.
Magar’s spell saw the quick dismissals of Priyada Murali, Marayam Omar, and Amana Sharif Tarik, severely denting Kuwait’s batting lineup. Kabita Kunwar also contributed significantly, claiming two crucial wickets to bolster Nepal’s bowling dominance.
Despite resilient efforts from Kuwait’s Priyada Murali and Khadija Khalil, who scored 29 and 13 runs respectively, their team fell short of setting a competitive total.
With this victory, Nepal maintains an undefeated streak in the ACC Premier Cup, having secured convincing wins in the group stage matches against Hong Kong, Bhutan, and Maldives.
Out of the 16 participating teams, Nepal, Thailand, Kuwait, UAE, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong have advanced to the quarterfinals, setting the stage for intense competition in the premier cup.
