Nepal to host international symposium on technology in peacekeeping
Nepal is hosting an international symposium ‘Partnership for Technology in Peacekeeping’ on June 12-15 in cahoots with the United Nations.
Nepal is organizing the event to exchange experience among the member nations on technology, challenges and best practices in peacekeeping missions in the context of rapid technological development and growing security threats.
Spokesperson of Defense Ministry Prakash Poudel shared that the 7th edition of international symposium is to be hosted in Nepal in collaboration with the UN Department of Operational Support and the Office of Information and Communications Technology.
As many as 300 participants comprising representatives and experts of the UN, peacekeeper deploying countries and support organizations would participate in the event. The symposium would feature open sessions of guest speakers, presentations and thematic group discussion.
At the call of the UN, a total of 144,565 Nepali peacekeepers have so far contributed to different peacekeeping missions in different parts of the globe.
