Nepal-US bilateral military discussion to be held
Nepal and the United States are holding the bilateral military discussion. The meeting will be held from March 27 to 29 in Kathmandu.
The kind of program, the highest engagement between Nepal and the US Army, were constituted in June 2018. Since 2018, this kind of program has been organized regularly every year, and every year it is organized in different countries. Last year the event was held in Hawaii, USA.
Over one-and-a-half dozen officials from Nepal and the US will be participating in the talks focussed on capability enhancement of Nepali peacekeepers, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, force professionalisation and experience sharing between the two militaries.
The meeting will also discuss military and defence activities and priorities of Nepal and the US, a government official said.
The meeting will also discuss the military hardware to be provided to the Nepal Army.
Under the command of Major General Christopher Smith, Deputy Commander of the US Army’s Pacific Command a 22-member team will participate in the program in which the Nepalese team will be led by Major General Ashok Raj Sigdel.
