Nepali Man Arrested in Romania for Alleged Rape Extradited to Kathmandu

A Nepali man previously issued a red notice by INTERPOL for alleged rape has been arrested in Romania and extradited to Kathmandu. The individual, identified as 24-year-old Gaurav Nepali from Khandadevi Rural Municipality, Ramechhap, was apprehended and subsequently brought back to Nepal with the assistance of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau of Romania.

Nepali was wanted in connection with a rape case and had been evading authorities on an international scale. Following his departure from Nepal, the INTERPOL General Secretariat issued a red notice on April 24, 2023, at the request of NCB Kathmandu. This international alert aimed to locate and detain him.

Upon his return to Nepal, Gaurav Nepali was taken into custody by Police Circle Gaushala Kathmandu for further investigation and legal proceedings. The authorities have stated that this arrest marks a critical step in ensuring justice and addressing the serious allegations against him.
