Nepse Extends Losing Streak with 17.04 Point Drop
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) continued its downward trend for the second consecutive session on Sunday, closing at 2,095.25 points after a loss of 17.04 points.
Share prices of 177 companies retreated during the trading session, while 64 companies managed to register gains. Six companies saw no change in their share prices. Nepal Finance Ltd emerged as the top gainer of the day, hitting the 10% positive circuit. The company also recorded the highest turnover with shares worth Rs 304.05 million traded. NRN Infrastructure & Development and Ngadi Group Power Ltd followed closely with turnovers of Rs 181.97 million and Rs 152.51 million, respectively.
In sectoral performance, the Hotels & Tourism sub-index was the only gainer, albeit with nominal gains. Conversely, all other sub-indices closed in negative territory. The Microfinance sub-index led the losses with a decline of 1.71%, followed by the Development Bank and Others sub-indices which fell by 1.2% and 1.12%, respectively.
Market activity remained robust with shares worth Rs 5.47 billion traded through 71,997 transactions. As a result, the market capitalization stood at Rs 3.32 trillion by the end of the session.
Investors are closely watching developments amidst ongoing volatility in the Nepse, with expectations on market movements in the upcoming sessions.
