Nepse Index Dips for Fifth Straight Day
On Thursday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) witnessed its fifth consecutive session in the red, with the benchmark index closing 20.76 points lower at 2,005.83 points, marking the end of the trading week.
Throughout the week, the index faced downward pressure, recording losses on all four trading days. Among the listed companies, 197 witnessed declines, while 49 saw advances, with two remaining unchanged by the day’s end.
The Hydropower sector bore the brunt of the losses, with its sub-index plummeting by 1.9% during the trading session. Additionally, the Banking group, a significant market heavyweight, also experienced a decline, with its sub-index down by 0.96%. However, amidst the downturn, the Manufacturing & Processing and Finance sectors managed to close the day in positive territory.
Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd emerged as the most actively traded stock of the day, with shares worth Rs 148.79 million changing hands.
Notably, daily turnovers saw an improvement on Thursday compared to the previous session. A total of Rs 3.20 billion worth of shares were traded on the bourse, reflecting an increase from Rs 2.21 billion traded on Wednesday.
