NEPSE Index Drops by 6.46 Points
On Wednesday, the Nepalese stock market witnessed a downturn as the NEPSE index plummeted by 6.46 points compared to the previous day, settling at 2026.59 points.
Trading activity also saw a decline, with turnover decreasing by 28 per cent from Rs 3.11 billion on Tuesday to Rs 2.24 billion on Wednesday. Among the listed companies, 80 saw an increase in value, while 159 experienced a decrease, with 9 remaining stable.
The decline affected all sectors except Manufacturing, which saw a notable increase of 2.84 per cent. Notably, companies such as Balaju and Tarai, both under Bottlers Nepal, registered a significant 10 per cent price hike, contributing to the overall rise in the Manufacturing group.
However, other sectors weren’t as fortunate. The Banking sector saw a decrease of 3 points, while Development Banks experienced a decline of 24 points. Finance, Hotel and Tourism, Hydropower, and Life Insurance sectors also witnessed decreases ranging from 4 to 38 points. The Microfinance sector observed a decline of 9 points, and Life Insurance 32 points. Additionally, Others and Trading Group both decreased by 15 and 10 points respectively.
Conversely, the Production Group stood out with a remarkable increase of 163 points, indicating a positive trend amidst the overall market downturn.
