New Policy to Ensure 10% of Income for Parents

Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens, Bhagawati Chaudhary, announced that the government is set to introduce a policy mandating that offspring provide at least 10% of their income to their parents.

Speaking at an event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Community Development and Service Centre and Community Police Service Centre in Gatthaghar on Saturday, Minister Chaudhary explained that this policy will be implemented following amendments to the Senior Citizens Act and Regulations.

The policy aims to address the growing issue of neglect faced by senior citizens from their children. Minister Chaudhary emphasized that both sons and daughters will be required to contribute 10% of their income to their parents, regardless of whether the income is from formal or informal sectors.

Minister Chaudhary affirmed that this policy will become mandatory once the relevant bill is endorsed by the parliament, ensuring financial support and respect for senior citizens across the country.
