New School Building Inaugurated at Shree Mahendra Shanti Secondary School, Bhaktapur with Indian Assistance
The newly constructed school building of Shree Mahendra Shanti Secondary School, located in Suryabinayak Municipality, Bhaktapur, was officially inaugurated on mondey. The building, built with a financial grant of NRs. 11.30 million from the Government of India under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ program, was opened by Mr. Durlav Thapa Chhetri, Member of Parliament from Bhaktapur, along with other local leaders and representatives from the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.
The project, designated as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), was executed through the District Coordination Committee of Bhaktapur. The newly inaugurated triple-storey building aims to provide better educational facilities and enhance the learning environment for the school’s 800 students, of whom 45% are girls.
Established in 1952 and upgraded to a secondary school in 1995, Shree Mahendra Shanti Secondary School is one of the oldest educational institutions in the district. This new infrastructure is expected to significantly contribute to the development of education in the region.
Local leaders and representatives commended India’s continued support in key sectors, further strengthening the bond between Nepal and India.
