Newly Built Galyang City Hospital Inaugurated with India’s Support

The newly constructed building of Galyang City Hospital in Galyang Municipality, Syangja, was inaugurated today, built with financial assistance from the Government of India totaling NPR 40.13 million under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ initiative. The ceremony was attended by Shri Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary at the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, Mr. Shree Prasad GT, Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Syangja, and Mr. Guru Prasad Bhattarai, Mayor of Galyang Municipality. Several political representatives, government officials, hospital staff, and community leaders were also present.

The hospital building, constructed as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) through an agreement between India and Nepal, was completed under the District Coordination Committee’s oversight in Syangja. In addition to a modern building structure, the project also provided the hospital with essential medical equipment, aiming to strengthen health infrastructure for the local population.

In their remarks, local officials and hospital representatives expressed appreciation for the ongoing support from the Indian government in improving infrastructure within Nepal’s priority sectors, particularly healthcare. Established in 2010 in a rented space by local residents, Galyang Community Hospital aimed to address a range of healthcare needs in the region. Renamed Galyang City Hospital, it now benefits from support provided by Galyang Municipality, delivering health services to residents from the Syangja, Palpa, Parbat, and Gulmi districts.

The new facilities are expected to enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare services and provide an improved environment for patients and medical professionals alike.

India’s support for such High Impact Community Development Projects underlines the close cooperation between India and Nepal across various sectors and highlights India’s commitment to assisting in the socio-economic upliftment of Nepal’s communities.
